St. Mary's High School Youth Ministry

Our goals are simple and incorporate the participation of our youth and their families in the whole life and mission of the Church by:

HSYG Triangle
  1. Teaching our youth to live as disciples of Jesus in the world today.
  2. Attracting our youth to participate in the life and work of St. Mary’s parish.
  3. Creating an environment that encourages and fosters the personal and spiritual growth of each of our young people.

Our Philosophy: The Three S’s Framework

We believe that an effective Youth Ministry Program has three critical components: social, spiritual, and service.

Social activities are at the top of the framework, but not because they are the most important element of our program. Rather, the program uses social activities as a means for us to get to know our young people, and for them to learn to trust us and each other. Through social activities, we try to build a strong sense of community among our young people and our adult volunteers.

Spiritual activities enable us to share our faith with our young people, and to help them on their journey to explore and strengthen their faith as they grow. We hope to provide our young people with guidance as they struggle at times with their faith, and we hope to provide them an opportunity to take a more active role in our church community.

Finally, we want to encourage our young people to not only worship with us, but to live their faith through service to others. Therefore, we wish to provide our young people with ample opportunities to engage in community service. We want to reach out to those in need, and to share our gifts with them.
