Music Ministry

The Music Ministry at St. Mary’s Parish involves the work of people of many ages and the music of varied traditions. All our music, though, shares the same purpose – to give glory to God, and to help our people experience Him through the power and beauty of sacred song.

St. Mary’s is blessed to have a wonderfully active music program. Our Adult Choir sings for the 11:30 am Mass every Sunday, and enriches the liturgy by singing a variety of anthems, from Gregorian chant to spirituals, in three or four parts, aided by the help of professional section leaders. The Children and Youth Choirs sing for the 9:30 am Mass every two weeks, and provides a wonderful training for children and youth wanting to learn how to sing and practice their faith. The Contemporary Ensemble sings for the 5:00 pm Mass every Saturday, leading the assembly in song to the warm tone of the guitar.

St. Mary’s is proud to offer diverse educational opportunities for children and youth. Through its affiliation to the Royal School of Church Music in America (RSCM), St. Mary’s offers an extensive training curriculum that teaches children and youth the fundamentals of singing, music theory, sigh-reading, and liturgy. In addition, the more experienced singers get a chance to be involved in positions of leadership within the liturgy, serving as Youth Cantors for Masses, or leading services such as our monthly Wednesday Sung Vesper services. All of these activities allow our children and youth to become well-rounded musicians while enjoying the camaraderie that comes with making music together, and sharing their faith!

Whether you are an experienced musician, or totally new to music, there is a place for you at St. Mary’s Music Ministry!
