Vacation Bible School

What:
Vacation Bible School is a week long celebration of faith. Through song, prayer, arts & crafts, movies, drama, and scripture, the children grow in their understanding of God’s love. Each year has a theme through which lessons about Jesus Christ are shared. Recent themes have included, “Avalanche Ranch – A Wild Ride Through God’s Word,” and “Power Lab – Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power!”

When:
VBS takes place for one week each year in late July, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 12 Noon. Exact dates are announced in the Parish Bulletin and Parish Newsletter. VBS Registration occurs in the spring, with forms available at the St. Mary’s Religious Education Office.

Who:
This program is designed for children entering kindergarden through entering grade 6. Children must be five years of age by September 1st to enter the program.

Many Volunteers are needed each year to make VBS a success. We need teachers, teachers’ aides, babysitters, crafters, musicians and more! Please consider sharing your talents with our precious children. Students from Junior High and High School have always been a vital part of making Vacation Bible School a hit and they are encouraged to volunteer. Students entering grades 7-12 can volunteer to help and receive service hours for VBS. Cori & Virtus are required for all volunteers 18 years old and older.

Cost:
A VBS fee is turned in each year with a child’s registration form. Please make checks payable to St. Mary’s Parish. If, for any reason, a family is unable to afford the fee, please just attach a note to the registration form stating this and the fee will be waived. Fees cover VBS supply costs, including a tee-shirt for each child and a CD for each family that registers.
