The Music Ministry at St. Mary’s Parish involves people of many ages and the music of varied traditions. All our music, though, shares the same purpose – to give glory to God, and to help our people experience Him through the power and beauty of sacred song.
St. Mary’s is blessed to have a wonderfully active music program. Our Adult Choir is a dedicated and warm group with a passion for traditional music. They sing for the 11:30 AM Mass every Sunday, enriching the liturgy with a variety of anthems ranging from Gregorian chant to modern compositions, both a cappella and accompanied, aided by the help of professional section leaders.
The St. Mary’s Children and Youth Choirs prepare anthems for the 9:30 AM Mass every few weeks, providing a wonderful opportunity for children and youth to bond through musical growth and worshipful song.
In the past, St. Mary’s affiliation with the Royal School of Church Music in America (RSCM) offered an extensive training curriculum to our young singers, teaching them the fundamentals of singing, music theory, sight-reading, and liturgy. Singers gained opportunities to serve in bigger musical roles, such as Youth Cantors for Masses. Through the RSCM program, children and youth become well-rounded musicians who strengthen and enliven the musical worship of their Parish community. We are hoping to increase participation in our young choirs enough to restart our collaboration with RSCM!
